Our Next Trip will be with Gateways Hospital & Mental Health Center

At the Aquarium of the Pacific & aboard the RV Challenger

Gateways Hospital and Mental Health Center

Located in the Echo Park-Silver Lake community of Los Angeles, is a non-profit organization providing acute in-patient, residential and out-patient services to mentally ill adolescents and adults.

An exemplary day of marine life experiences.

Approximately 50 children and an adequate number of chaperones and volunteers will be treated to an exclusive tour of the Aquarium of the Pacific in Long Beach, California.

Concentrating specifically on those areas which we are expected to experience on the ocean later in the day.

We will have lunch in the Aquarium Cafeteria and then proceed to the dock next to the Aquarium to board the RV Challenger with its floating lab and competent crew.

Highly trained and experienced staff including scientist from the Aquarium will join us to explain our experience of marine life observations, which may include whale migrations, dolphins, seals and the unexpected.

Aquarium tour and lunch at The Aquarium of the Pacific prior to ocean trip.

RV Challenger

A 118 foot research vessel

LBMI exists to better acquaint local residents with the valuable resources of the Southern California Coast. Furthermore, we seek to help people understand the processes of marine science and hope to spark an interest in future exploration of the ocean realm.
